1. Spray painting and high-gloss processing: Hardware factories adopt spray painting and high-gloss processing when producing large-sized hardware products. This process prevents hardware parts from rusting, such as daily necessities, electrical appliance casings, and crafts
2. Electroplating: Electroplating is also a common processing technique for high-gloss metal processing. Through modern technology, the surface of metal parts is electroplated to ensure that the product does not undergo mold growth or rusting over prolonged use. Commonly electroplated items include screws, stamped parts, battery cells, automotive parts, small accessories, and so on.
3. Surface polishing: Surface polishing is commonly used in daily necessities. By removing surface burrs from metal products, such as when we produce a comb, which is a metal piece formed by stamping, the edges and corners of the stamped comb are very sharp. We need to polish the sharp edges and corners into a smooth surface, so that they will not cause harm to the human body during use.
Turning the external cylindrical surface is the basic method for processing external cylindrical surfaces in high-gloss metal processing, and the equipment used is a lathe. In general machinery factories, lathes account for about 40% of the total number of machine tools. Turning is the main method for roughing and semi-finishing the external cylindrical surfaces of various materials, and it is also the final finishing method for various materials that are not suitable for grinding.
In single-piece and small-batch production, turning of external cylindrical surfaces is generally carried out on standard lathes. In large-batch production, multi-tool semi-automatic lathes or automatic lathes are widely used. Large disc-type parts should be processed on vertical lathes. Large long-shaft parts need to be processed on heavy-duty horizontal lathes.
The characteristics of turning cylindrical surfaces include:
1. The cutting tool is simple, and its manufacturing, sharpening, and installation are convenient;
2. The cutting process is stable with small fluctuations in cutting force, which is conducive to adopting high cutting speeds and improving productivity;
3. The machine tool has good versatility and can process external circles, end faces, internal holes, threads, chamfers, etc. in one setup. The mutual positional accuracy between various surfaces is easy to ensure;
4. Suitable for finishing of non-ferrous metal parts.
